It had always been a dream of mine to work in a role where I could be helpful to others and improve people’s lives. Prior to my introduction to New Venture Escrow, I had obtained a degree from SDSU in finance and an MBA in healthcare administration. I am no stranger to hard work, and I managed to excel in my studies and hold employment as a bartender and server while simultaneously working in the real estate industry specializing in foreclosure properties.
In 2013, Vice President of Sales Courtney Louis shared an incredible experience with me when she introduced me to the eclectic office culture and friendly environment that New Venture Escrow embodied. I knew this was a company that truly valued diversity, creativity and service to others. Though I had wanted to pursue a career path that would one day make me the CFO of a hospital, I felt strongly that New Venture Escrow was where I belonged and I began my journey with the company right then and there.
Since the beginning of my time at New Venture Escrow, I have grown in ways that I never thought possible. I have dedicated my life to service real estate agents, buyers, and sellers and have since become one of the most successful and esteemed account executives at the company. I know that New Venture Escrow is where I belong and I am so fortunate to be a part of an innovative, cutting-edge and client focused movement.
If there is one thing I have learned in business today, it is that my network is my net worth. It is now and will continue to be my number one goal to add as much value as I can to the lives and businesses of my clients.
I first moved to San Diego from Tijuana at age 13 and struggled as an English language learner in academics. When I was younger, I dreamed of being a news reporter. I had my first big break one summer during high school when I was selected to participate in a Summer Journalism Program offered by The San Diego Union-Tribune and I ended up earning their top scholarship and award for the work I was able to produce.
At 14 years old, with broken English, no substantial knowledge of U.S. major institutions, systems, or even many aspects of the American culture, I was clearly the underdog among my peers. I often remember those days whenever I am challenged and out of my comfort zone. That experience taught me what I still know to be true today: great things happen outside of our comfort zone. We must always be comfortable with being uncomfortable!
Furthermore, I would love to reach a place within New Venture Escrow where I can offer someone else opportunities in the way they have been offered to me. This type of mentorship model is an integral part of our business.
My professional experience has always revolved around working with people and customer service. I am highly skilled at working with individuals of various backgrounds, which allows me to quickly build valuable relationships and steward partnerships as a sales representative.
On top of that, being bilingual in English and Spanish has allowed me to connect with more people across cultures. My project management experience has equipped me with the ability to take on tasks and projects with minimal direction, taking the lead and becoming a self-starter.
Something that many people don’t know about me is that I have experience with broadcast journalism and writing for local newspapers and magazines. In my free time, I enjoy practicing digital and film photography.
I also like to stay involved and support different causes as much as I can. Currently, I am actively involved in an effort to offer weekly hot meals and other relief to individuals and families battling homelessness. I also support local organizations that serve children, youth, and families in underserved communities, environmental causes, and animal rescue organizations.
The most valuable thing I’ve learned throughout all of this is to never let a negative experience or situation tarnish your character. We will all inevitably experience difficult situations, but we hold control over what we do and/or say in response. I follow the example put forth by my mother, who is a very giving and selfless person. She taught me the importance of showing up for people and helping those who need it without expecting anything in return.
My past experiences and personal values have shaped me into who I am today. I look forward to continuing my professional and individual growth with New Venture Escrow, and in turn contributing to growth within the company.
