Instagram Hacks: How to Get the Most Out of Social Media

It’s no secret that social media has created a major shift in the way business is done around the globe. What was once a place to share family photos and send messages to friends, is now a place of discovery. Statistics show that 55% of consumers learn about new brands on social media and 78% are willing to buy from a company after having a positive experience with them on social.

Being some of the best FREE direct marketing available, it is imperative that we are getting the most out of our social media. I started learning to leverage my Instagram back in 2017 when I saw how many people I could impact sharing my fitness journey. Since then, it has become an essential part of my real estate business and source of lead generation.

Here are my top 5 hacks for getting the most out of your page!

1. Content is King 👑

Too often I see people focusing too hard on the number of followers rather than the quality of their content. It’s easy to get caught up on how many eyes you’re getting on your page, but it doesn’t matter how many people are directed there if they don’t find a reason to stay and/or follow you.

Tip: Imagine the ideal follower for your business. What do they like? What questions might they have? What things do they find value in? What could you tell them that would make you seem like the expert in your field? Think of the answers to those questions when creating your content.

2. Be Authentic & Be Yourself

Behind every business is just a normal person like you and me who had a dream. The one thing that bands every single person in the world together is our humanity- don’t lose touch with that. Just because we are promoting our business doesn’t mean that’s necessarily what will connect us to someone else.

Tip: Your page should be a mix of business and personal. Showcase the things that make you unique and different from the next person in your field. What do you like to do on the weekends? What’s your family like? What kind of dog do you have? Think about what someone might see and relate to.

3. Stay Consistent

With everything else that needs our attention on a daily basis, it’s easy for social media to get pushed down the priority list. Sticking to a consistent schedule will help create a better experience for your followers and stay top of mind. Every time they see your name on their feed, they’re reminded of who you are and what you do.

Tip: Plan your content in advance! Build time into your schedule to brainstorm and plan out content as well as when it will be posted. If you’re worried you’ll get busy during those times, there are apps that allow you to schedule out posts in advance and will do it for you.

4. Engage with Relevant Brands & Pages

One of the easiest ways to get more eyes on your page is to leverage the following of another that might have a similar target audience as you.

Tip: Again think of your target audience and what pages they might be looking at. Tag those pages in your feed posts and stories to reach some of their followers. You can even go the their followers list and start interacting with people individually.

5. Hashtags

You’ve been hearing the word hashtag regularly for some time now, but likely don’t fully understand the importance of using them. Hashtags will allow those who aren’t already following you to see your content- many people follow and search hashtags on a regular basis.

Tip: What hashtags are your ideal client likely searching for? For example: someone looking for a home in the San Diego area might be searching #sandiegohomes. If you still feel lost, you can go online and find the most popular hashtags in whatever category you’re targeting.
